The following is for the dragracers. It's an acceleration program which delivers the speed information you normally receive on your timing slip plus an estimate of the flywheel horsepower based on a reasonable value for driveline losses. Just fill in the form below and click on "Compute."

Calculations are made every foot. A "nominal" torque curve is skewed and factored to match the input data. Equivalent weights of rotating inertias are approximated.

The program also calculates elapsed time, but I have chosen not to display it. The variables which affect elapsed time are so many and so varied in their effect that a calculated result will never satisfy all users. The calculated speeds, however, are reasonably accurate and certainly sufficient for comparison purposes.

maximum rear wheel power =

effective tire radius =

car weight =

axle ratio =

maximum engine rpm (shift rpm) =

number of transmission gears =

first transmission gear ratio =

second transmission gear ratio =

third transmission gear ratio =

fourth transmission gear ratio =

fifth transmission gear ratio =

sixth transmission gear ratio =
