MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
The earliest printed
report states that William Shakespeare's play Much Ado About Nothing
was "sundry times publicly acted".
I think he was at Irwindale Thursday night.
By the time I arrived at the track at 5:30 the formal tallying was
already completed. Buster had presented a very poorly worded and
confusing question to the sixteen who had signed up for KOH in the
tech lanes. The vote was 12 to 4 not to ban electronics - I think.
But at the 7:00 meeting before first round several voters said they
did not understand the question.
Typical California Measure E politics.
The KOH mass meeting before first round was civil. Some of the
private meetings were not. There is some anger about the issue.
Probably a good thing to clear the air a bit. Good timing.
The result of the meeting was to do nothing. Maybe look at it again
next year. I'll be surprised if that happens. The air may have been
let out of the issue.
Many in the crowd voiced support for status quo - some said they
don't care.
Not much vocal support for No-E.
When Tom mentioned my idea for bottom bulb only racing I tried to
raise support in the crowd - unsuccessful - no support.
Buster proposed a pro tree - really really bad idea. That would hose
so many foot brake racers - the slower cars that use the rhythm of
the tree to anticipate the bottom bulb. Transbrake racer's would
have a huge advantage.
Doug Gibson made an impassioned speech about racing better cars
being an opportunity to raise your game. To get better. Good speech.
I liked that.
So status quo is the rule - anything goes. Fine with me.
Some history trivia about KOH - back in the day it was limited to
slower cars. Interesting.
