CONSISTENT MEDIOCRITY

18 cars in KOH last night.

The field was packed with 6 second cars tuning up for the PSCA race at Fontana. I hope they come back next week so we can tune them up some more.

My driving was not stellar. RTs in TnT were inconsistent. So I went to the line, every lap, with my dark glasses on. That turned my 520 RTs into 540s, and my 550s into 570s. But it also turned my 497 RT into a 517 and that bought me a round.

Luck played its hand again. Second round, Brooke came by with a story. She said that as I rolled past her in lane five, a coin flipped off my rear tire. She handed me the coin. I said "Oh good, must be a lucky coin" and put it in my left pants pocket.

It was me, Four Speed Peter and Mighty Mouse Mike in the semis. An 18 car field means there are byes in all but the first and final rounds. Peter had an earlier bye so Mike and I decided to flip for this round's bye. I smiled as I reached into my left pants pocket. Mike noticed the smile and asked "Is that a two headed coin?". Peter had a flashlight in his pocket. Funny - I thought he was just glad to see me. They used the flashlight to examine the coin very carefully. Peter threw the coin high in the air. I started counting the money.

Mike beat Peter in the semis.

The final was nothing special - two 570 something RTs - but Mike ran slow. I caught him and rode his fender to the finish line.

Another win for Ichabod Car - the Halloween Nova.
