LONG LIVE THE WOBBLY TIRE THEORY
The wobbly tire theory is
dead - long live the wobbly tire theory.
Sorry to see it go. It was
so elegantly crafted, so creative, so completely full of crap.
Here is the cause of the wobbly
RPMs. See how the gear is worn razor thin on the lower left
side? The other side looks unused. I'll take the distributor out
again this week and check shaft concentricity and concentricity
of this gear.
KOH was 26 cars. Man it
was hot out there. First round my "in car" thermometer showed
122 degrees. No telling how hot it was cause it only goes to 122
degrees. By third round the mercury plummeted to a chilly 114
degrees - and me without my mittens. Final round was 104
degrees. I would have won but for my teeth chattering.
I was gifted a red light
first round. There were so many red lights first round I figure
many just wanted to go home and lie in front of the air
conditioner.
Second round I got the
bye.
Third round I treed the
yellow Nova with a 0.509 RT.
Fourth round I treed
Mark's Chevelle with a perfect 0.500 RT (yikes!).
Final round my 0.521 was
not good enough. But like I said my teeth were chattering. Tom's
Vega wagon took me out. He's the guy that won four in a row this
month. Killer car. We split the 520 bucks with no side bet.
SUSPENSION:
The car hooked monster all
day except the last two rounds of KOH. The first of those rounds
they sprayed the line again while we waited. Too slippery. Mark
says that when they do that to him he burns em right across the
line to dry the VHT. They get pissed off and then he yells at
em. I need to do more yelling.
PRESSURE SWITCH:
My RTs during Test 'n Tune
were 540s and 550s. Better than that 650 last Thursday but -
KOH was starting so I decided to play the cards in my hand
rather than fiddle with it any more. I got those killer lights
by rolling in a bit more than usual.
NEXT WEEK:
Next week I'll continue
tuning up the pressure switch.
I'm thinking I'll try the
double pumper - see if the traction holds with four barrel
launches.
