 A BRIDES MAID NO MORE

The Touché Gang was not on hand Thursday to share in our King Of The Hill victory. Hopefully they'll be back next week to watch me red light in the first round. For beginners like me "hero to zero" is the norm.

The field was short - only eight cars. Kenny Snow and the Super Pro guys were not there - just regular shlubs like me. Over the last few weeks I've lost to Kenny Snow twice, his brother once, and his girlfriend once.

Apparently when there's snow on the track I turn into a blithering idiot.

Conditions were scorching. The track surface was 140 degrees first round. Driving in, my Hurricane Fan kept the car's interior to a balmy 116 degrees. Hurricane fan info, pics and movie are --> HERE

Didn't mind the heat though. Just off our Florida trip where the weather was hot and - ahem - quite tropical. Bring it on.

The new 4-link setup was only successful as a learning experience. From the movie I can see I've got the four corner lift that I see in other successful cars. But I also see torque twisting that almost lifts the left rear off the ground on the launch. KOH semi final movie is -->  HERE :

Attached is the O2 Alert data graph from the KOH final round. The RPM wobble is still there despite all the changes I've made. The air/fuel ratio plot shows the BG double pumper was quite lean. Looks like the accelerator pump settings are good - no big lean spikes. I have a 50cc kit on the secondaries. The primary squirter is one size bigger - and the secondary squirter is two sizes bigger.

The BG carb worked great though. I love cracking the throttle with four barrels - VROOM! Throttle response was excellent. Easily over powers the tires though.

If I get this figured out new performance bests are on the menu.

The tires are still the best suspect for the cause of the RPM wobble. I waited on long distance hold with Mickey Thompson for an hour and gave up. A voice mail message and email requests have gone unanswered. Great racer support - huh?

The tranny guy say's he's sure it's not a pump problem. I've eliminated all the engine, drive train and chassis issues that I can think of.

If I can't get any help with this I guess I'll go back to the Hoosiers and see what happens. I'm gonna feel like a dummy though if that doesn't cure the problem.
