HIS MAJESTY LIKES THE
COOKIES
KING OF THE HILL
Jim's wife makes the best cookies ever - but they really screw up my
driving. As precious as they are I did my best to share with all the
KOH competitors. Trying to level the playing field.
With a four cookie handicap "Foot Boy" defeated CW Hoefer in the
final to defend our home track.
The field was full, with big hitters from Irwindale and Fontana. It
was looking to be a battle of father and son teams with Irwindale's
Mark and Matt Miyashiro and Fontana's CW and Craig Hoefer. Matt,
coming off his double win at Borona was loaded for bear and went red
- maybe he should have loaded for rabbit. Branko is always dangerous
- even driving his dump truck or what ever that was. Branko just
loves to race - anything, anytime. Kenny is back to being Kenny
again. Hugo " Box Boy " Casals is starting to feel it. Eileen
Pandeles, the World's fastest Grandmother, is not to be trifled with
- especially at the big end. The Z car rivals, Ford and Chevy
powered, have seen their share of finals. Good field.
Exciting racing for the Halloween Nova last night. All but one round
was in doubt at the stripe. Very consistent last night too - and my
driving started coming around in the later rounds.
CALLING RODNEY DANGERFIELD
CW's reputation is widely known. When Buster rolled by with the pot
he didn't ask who won. He just handed the cash to CW.
SLOW DOWN!!!!
What does it take to get Ichabod Car to slow down? Running the 800
double pumper I had the primaries limited to 60 degrees and the
secondaries to only 30 degrees. I was shooting for 7.40s. It ran
7.20 all night long.
Paul Althouse said maybe it likes a smaller carb. That's just what I
needed to hear - since I've been frantically massaging my 1050
double pumper for Pro at Fontana.
HUMBLING
The thing I like most about drag racing is how often it throws me a
curve ball. It's like - take that Mr. Smarty Pants.
Cheers,
Tim
