1967 Nova Drag Race Car

Professionally Built and Campainged in the '60 and '70s

DESCRIPTION and SPECIFICATIONS: GO 2 PICS
This Nova was built and campaigned professionally. The car was called "OTHER WOMAN".  My seller was in the process of converting it into a Pro Street type street rod, hence the LS6 and 700R4 .

My project is to return the car to the strip. I hope to race in the 10 second brackets.

It is now located in Anaheim California.

Wheelie bars are cool.

They're now holding up a wall.

I'll put them back on when  I'm sure I won't embarrass them at the track.

Yea - maybe if I learn how to drive this thing
Air Conditioning

Works Good

Uses Little Horse Power

No rev limit switch required

Mark William's 35 Spline Axles.

Their splines are cut differently from the industry standard. They only fit a Mark Williams spool.

This is how you get the rear tires off.

Pep Boys would be pissed.

AAA wanted pictures for insurance. The lady said "Are you going to drive this thing"

Made my day.

Biondo's Terminator button.

The button's long stroke provides up to 0.040 delay.

The Terminator button controls the transbrake,  line lock and two step rev limiter for sportsmen tree launches.

The button, on the shift handle, controls the line lock only - so I use it for burn outs. The little red button is super fast for 0.400 pro tree racing.

Strange 5005S double adjustable shocks . With adjustable compression damping I hope to better control squatting in the right rear.

I'm resisting an anti- roll bar because of the extra weight.

RECENT CHRONOLOGY
DATE: NOTES:
05/30/07 Went to Irwindale's (1/8 mile track) Test 'N Tune. Best pass was 7.916 @ 85.45 MPH ( 12.35 1/4 mile calculated). 60 ft time was 1.825.

Engine seized on the way home. Rods were welded to the crank; crank was ruined but nothing broke. Leading theory is 5 quarts of oil in a 7 quart (deep sump) pan -- but without a deep sump oil pickup. Block pics are here --> LS6 BLOCK

07/03/07 Now have a GMPP ZZ502. Need to break it in before going to the track. Pics are --> ZZ502

HP & Torque curves from GMPP are --> HERE.

More ZZ502 info from GMPP is --> HERE.

GMPP tech specs are --> HERE.

07/09/07 Put 100 break in miles on the engine. It was 110 degrees in the desert. In overdrive, 3rd and second gears I  cycled through acceleration/coast sequences over and over. Stopped for gas three times.

I posted my workshop pictures --> HERE

07/12/07 Test N Tune at Irwindale's 1/8 mile track. Lost a few of tenths from the LS6. Temperature was 105 degrees - about 25 degrees hotter than on 5/30. Top speed was up quite a bit - picked up 4 mph.

Tach quit working again - I was manual shifting and hitting the rev limiter a lot and screwed up all but one run.

Best time was with automatic shifting - 8.190 @ 89.01 mph (12.77 1/4 mile calculated). Lowered the tire pressure each run - best 60 ft time was 2.044 with 11 1/2 pounds.

07/18/07 Installed a line lock. Pics are --> HERE Replaced the master cylinder and combination proportioning valve also.
07/29/07 Installed the line lock again. New pics are --> HERE
8/12/07 Mounted the new tires. PHOTOS HERE.

Installed a two step with a screw driver adjustable low RPM limit. I'm hoping that brake torquing to the converter's stall speed this will improve the RT and 60 ft times.

Installed a new speedometer drive gear to correct the speedometer error.

08/21/07 Line lock finally works after five installations of three separate units. PHOTO HERE
08/31/07 Best performance yet. Temperature was 110 - hottest day of the year. Best 60 ft - 1.676. Best 1/8 mile ET - 7.635 ( x 1.56 = 11.911 1/4 mile ET). Best 1/8 mile speed - 89.89 MPH.
09/03/07 Replaced the 170- lb/in rear springs with softer 120 lb/in springs.
09/03/07 Installed bead screws so I can run lower tire pressure.
09/03/07 Line lock did not work that well after all. Installed a new TCI line lock - PHOTOS
10/11/07 Installed vanity plates with police friendly front plate. PHOTO
10/11/07 Moved laundry room indoors. Now have a space to build a new engine. PHOTOS
